We know the infant and toddler are in their Sensitive Period for Movement and Tiny Objects, so this naturally exactly what a "sensorial explorer" will want to keep busy with. The hands want to get busy, so we offer a variety of activities for this eager infant to begin engaging in life. They want to join the party! We begin to play with and bat the hanging toys, make it look like fun, and see if your infant joins in the game. The idea is to open their mind to active participation in life. Every action teaches them something, the more you do, the more you learn is how it adds up, so busy is good. First they grasp with palmer grasp, then they learn to release, and as this plays out, they are working on hand strength, coordination, and the pincer grip, which will create more options for fun! We give them verbs, kick! push! ball. etc. The entire curriculum is always on, But we must be cognizant of our purpose, to prepare an engaging environment, get the infant active, life is fun!
