Montessori described Toddlers as: "Unconscious Sensorial Explorers" We must expect and allow some chaos, otherwise we will constantly interrupt their developing self-direction and concentration.

One of the best BOOKS on Understanding your Difficult/Challenging Child.

What is Montessori Education, and...
Why is it good for my Child?

Montessori Schools, use specific educational methods which have persevered for over 100 years, worldwide.  The basics are rather simple, prepared environment, age appropriate sensorial/manipulatives, and an Adult with  . . .

Understanding and RESPECT for this special moment of Early Childhood development.

The  Child Raising situation today has become challenging due to our complex world of childcare and working parents, and general abundance.  Parents can be influenced by peers and media,  they become eager to introduce their young children to EVERYTHING, and way too soon.  In avoiding this Overwhelming of Your Child, we can experience what Maria Montessori based her Montessori Schools on.  She named it "The Discovery of the Child".  She saw that by creating a Prepared Environment for learning, Organized, Sensorial Materials, Respect for the child's need to Manipulate the Environment for their exploration & learning... Children become "Normalized".

You can see Examples of these Normalized (12 - 36 mos) Children in this Music Class Video, and these photos.

The over-abundance of "colorful plastic toys" and "electronic marvels" available is mind boggling, and truly "boggles the mind of the young child", these children develop tantrums, lack of focus, and actually miss a huge opportunity to feel they joy available at this point in their lives.  This is only part of the challenge, the second part is PARENTS & Caretakers lack of access to the correct knowledge and methods to assist their infant/toddlers.  I would like to share my Knowledge with you.

Maria Montessori's MAJOR CONTRIBUTION "The Discovery of the Child" , was her discovery that through this simple method, THE TRUE NATURE OF THE Child will EMERGE.

CHILDREN are Joyful, Kind, Loving, Patient, and Respectful of others by NATURE.

With my 30 years of experience around young children, families, and Montessori Training (prenatal thru age 6), I hope to share something amazing with you.  YOU CAN GIVE YOUR CHILD A MONTESSORI EDUCATION  BIRTH - age 3 at HOME, for less $$ than many parents are paying for 1 month tuition in a Montessori Program.  Your family, nanny, or yourself can easily master the skills and knowledge required.  Organize a small "neighborhood Play Group" and Your CHILD can build a FOUNDATION for LIFE, a PATH to achieving their FULL POTENTIAL, and HAPPINESS, right in your own home, while also creating a community of like-minded families with shared values.

Maria Montessori developed her Education for Peace to be a Non-competetive, shared experience, for the good of the child.

I would like to Share Montessori Home Infant-Toddler Education with you here.

Sensorial Experiences:  This is the attraction for the very early learners. They learn through hands on experiences; Adults "introduce" the use of the materials, in part by "modeling" correct name and use of the "paper taring work" then toddlers just become "self-directed busy bees", trying out what they saw you do, and trying ideas that come to their mind, they are busy exploring and learning!  This is exactly what we strive to "balance" our day, the Montessori Term is Normalized child or group.  The key is not to interrupt, this is his/her journey.  There are right times to step in, and there is interrupting his idea for yours.  That's a large chunk the problem, the other is that any interruption is interrupting something, interrupting "sacred developmental work of the child's Inner Teacher.

Exploration: Adults Prepare an Environment : which we update as the child matures. They explore, learning what works, what is acceptable, as long as they're being safe & respectful of the others and the environment (i.e. not throwing or misusing), we don't interrupt, if they ask us, or seem to need some guidance, without much interruption it's possible to "parallel work" (as if I'm an older child working) to assist at times. Later we re-demonstrate "use of the material", but we respect their exploration without interruption, fostering their developing confidence and abilities.  Each child masters concepts at their own pace, it's a natural thing.

The Prepared Environment is key, as it requires the Adult to understand the evolving needs of the rapidly changing child during the first 3 years of life.  The "developmental tools" for Language, Movement, Social, Safety, Nutrition, etc.

 My Journey with Infant/Toddler Montessori

Hello, I'm Denise an AMI Montessori Assistant to Infancy, class of 2003.

As my daughter entered a Montessori Primary program (3-6 yrs), I discovered

a Montessori Toddler Community at that school.  So fascinated to learn about Montessori for this younger age group, that I enrolled in the AMI Montessori Infant-Toddler training!

Through this website, I hope to share with parents and caretakers,

the "Secret Sauce" of Infant/Toddler Montessori in the Home.

Kindly,  Denise West,

Infancy begins with a lot of work for new parents, but within a year the child becomes a toddler, and you can see much progress towards independence.

Where and Why do I Begin?

It might look easy from the photos, but there is a lot of preparation involved.  Specific materials, sequence of introduction, and guidance are critical.  Proven to enable a group of up to 12-18 mixed age toddlers to Thrive. Happily engaged and busy all day, meals, naps (no screen time at all), with just a bit of noise & occasional chaos.  Through understanding the Montessori Method, you too can raise a cheerful busy and kind toddler. The goal being balanced development, with their full potential uncompromised.

There is a tragedy of LOST POTENTIAL going on in today's world, social media pulling our teens away from participating fully in life. Not to mention the tragedy of drugs and loss of life.

Loving parents work hard, aiming to raise resilient confident individuals. I offer this website as a First Step; gifting your child access to Montessori's Education from Birth.  I hope you join me in this journey!
